Walt Bowen |
Walt retired from Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS) in 2008 where he worked as a program manager. Walt has been active in civic and political organizations. He served as President of the Olympia Kiwanis and the Eastside Neighborhood Assoc. He is a musician and currently is the Vice President of the Greater Olympia Dixieland Jazz Society and co-director of their major Westcoast jazz festival. Walt is a graduate of Seattle University with a major in Political Science and Journalism and is a US Army Veteran. Walt is married and resides in Olympia with his wife Karen. |

Barbara Day Vice President |
Barbara retired from the State of Washington in 2007 where she had worked as a Certificated teacher and/or counselor in Northshore, Chehalis and Olympia School Districts. She currently serves on the WEA-Retired State Executive Board, is Pres. of the SW Neighborhood Assoc. and is on the City of Olympia Utilities Advisory Committee. Her hobbies are cycling, writing and traveling; and playing the guitar. Barb is a graduate of the University of WA with A BA in Education, majoring in US History and a minor in Theories of Modern Government and a second minor in English. She also has a Masters Degree in Teaching to Exceptional Children and a Master in school Counseling. Barb has lived in Olympia for twenty-two years and has three grown children living in Ellensburg, Mendocino, and Hong Kong. |

Denny Johnston Secretary/Treasurer

Denny retired from the State of Washington in 2009 where he last worked at the Department of Corrections. Denny graduated from Washington State University in 1974 with a BA in Political Science and Washington State Secondary Education Teaching Credentials. He has held positions in labor organizations such as a Shop Steward for WFSE and is currently the Secretary and Board Member of RPEC Chapter 2, Olympia, WA.

Karen Bowen |
Karen retired from the State of Washington DSHS in 2007 where she worked as a Project Manager in Information Technology. Karen is a former member of the Olympia Heritage Commission and is the Vice President of the Olympia Historical Society and a member of the Olympia Genealogical Society. Karen is a graduate of Seattle University with a major in Humanities. She loves to write, paint, cook, and garden. Karen resides in Olympia with her husband, Walt and her three cats, Nhu Tu, Hua Tu and Hestor Tu.
