The Washington State Senior Citizens’ Lobby formed in 1977 as a volunteer, non-profit advocacy organization for seniors.
Senior Citizens’ Lobby Activities Include:
Studies issues of concern to seniors carefully and develops a legislative agenda prior to each legislative session. The Lobby’s Legislative Agenda is distributed widely.
Lobbies actively on issues such as health care reform during legislative session and in the interim recess.
Contacts legislators and staff about seniors needs for housing, health care, insurance, long-term care, retirement benefits and other issues.
Maintains an office, web site, and communication network for seniors, providing access to information on issues and the legislature.
Organizes Fall Conference on current public policy issues with national and state speakers.
Provides public forums with speakers on issues of concern to seniors.
Produces written legislative updates, annual legislative summaries, and issue papers on current bills and topics, including initiatives and referendums.
Sponsors a “Senior Lobby Day” at the State Capitol each Legislative session.
